Our voyages which explore the European Arctic regions are relatively straightforward to arrive and depart from. Voyages inside the European Arctic explore Scotland, Norway, Svalbard, Greenland and Iceland. The voyage itineraries will often start and end in different destinations, so it is extremely important to understand your voyage itinerary and embarkation and disembarkation ports. Don’t worry too much about this, as your iExpedition Confirmed Itinerary documentation will outline this clearly for you.
Another aspect to consider is if your itinerary includes or provide optional charter flights to meet the ship. Sometimes, these flights will be mandatory, so you will be required to arrive at the town of your departing flights.
Generally, you will need to arrive in Europe a few days before your expedition is due to embark. While you can often arrive at the ship on the day of departure, iExpedition certainly recommend ensuring that you are within close, driving proximity a few days prior. Once you have arrived in Europe, it is then up to you to travel to your embarkation port, as well as having your post-cruise travel plans in order post-disembarkation.
iExpedition can assist you with all your international and domestic flights through our partners. If you have any questions or need any assistance, please let us know and we would be happy to provide you with the advice required or assist in making your flight bookings.

Domestic: Once you are inside Europe all ports that our voyages use are serviced by national carriers. The one region that will be more difficult than most is Kangerlussuaq, Greenland. If you need assistance with your flight route, please let iExpedition know and we’d be happy to help.
The most popular ports that our voyages utilise include;
- Bergen, Norway
- Tromso, Norway
- Longyearbyen, Svalbard,
- Reykjavik, Iceland
- Kangerlussuaq, Greenland
It is very common for our voyages which depart or finish in Kangerlussuaq, Greenland to include mandatory charter flights, usually, these will depart from Reykjavik, Iceland, but there are voyages which use flights from Amsterdam, Holland and Paris, France. Depending on the operator these flights may be included in the cost of your voyage or they may be at an additional cost.
