Russian Arctic National Park opens exhibit on board 50 Years of Victory!
On board the world’s most powerful nuclear ice-breaking vessel the 50 Years of Victory, 18 spectacular photographs are on display from renowned photographer Nikolai Gernet of Franz Josef Land. The images are part of the celebration for the Year of the Environment and the Year of the Specially Protected Natural Areas.
The images help to tell the story of this incredible archipelago to tourists that will be welcomed aboard this year on 5 special expeditions exploring Franz Josef Land and the North Pole. The Russian Arctic National Park covers the Arkhangelsk Region – Novaya Zemlya and Franz Josef Land, making it the largest and most northern protected region in Russia.
Each year the 50 Years of Victory departs on 5 incredibly exciting expedition voyages to the North Pole. Departing from Murmansk, Russia, these voyages will spend a few days exploring Franz Josef Land en route to the North Pole.
Travelling on board one of the world’s most extreme passengers vessels, these voyages will amaze travellers who have seemingly done it all. There are few experiences in the world, where you may perch yourself on the bow of a ship, while it crushes through ice 2-3 metres thick, stand in a place where the only direction you can travel is south or take a helicopter tour high-above the North Pole.
