Your expedition begins here
  • Cruise to South Georgia, Antarctica & discover a rare Total Solar Eclipse.

  • The eclipse will move East –> West a phenomena only possible in the polar regions.

  • Totality will occur just after 7 am on the 4th December 2021

Don’t miss the chance to see one of the Earth’s most wondrous cosmic events in one of Earth’s most fantastic places! An Antarctic viewing of the Total Solar Eclipse is expected on the 4th December 2021. Total solar Eclipses occur roughly every 18 months, however, are quite rare in the polar regions and can only be properly seen along a few key path locations. What better location than of the wildest and least-known places on our plant?

19 NIGHTS & ONE VERY FAMOUS COSMIC EVENT

To witness the Total Solar Eclipse, we’ll position our ships in the centre of the moon shadow, at the edge of the sea ice in the Weddell Sea, between South Orkneys and South Georgia islands. The complete itinerary will enjoy 20-days exploring the Falkland Islands, South Georgia & the Antarctica Peninsula.

What is a Total Solar Eclipse:

Occurring whsolar eclipse antarcticaen the moon passes between the Earth and Sun, at this moment the sun is either totally or partially obscured from the viewers perspective, thus creating an Eclipse. A Total Solar Eclipse is when the diameter of the moon appears larger than the Suns, due to its close proximity to Earth and blocks all direct sunlight. This plunges day into night and is known as totality. As you can see in the image, totality occurs along a very fine line, shown by the blue arc over thousands of kilometres.

Fortunately for us, one of the best places to view this Eclipse will be due east of the Antarctica Peninsula.

Although the voyage is still more than 3 years away, these voyages are already generating interest and we currently have a couple of voyages that have released their sailing schedule around the Eclipse and these details are below.
